REGISTRATION OPEN FOR HOCKING COUNTY CHILDREN’S CHORUS

Registration for the 2021-2022 Season for the Hocking County Children’s Chorus (HCCC) will begin July 15. The Chorus is open to children of Hocking County in Grades 1-12, including children in public schools, private schools, digital academy, and those who are homeschooled. Children of all abilities are welcome; there are no tryouts" to belong.

The chorus members have a lot of fun together while they develop their talents in music, performance, and theater. A United Way Agency, the HCCC performs at various community events throughout the year, participates in the Santa Parade, and holds an annual Christmas Concert. Each spring, the HCCC presents a musical. In May, they presented "Fiddler on the Roof Jr." on stage in downtown Logan.

We are excited to announce the addition of First Grade students this year," said Therese Karnes, Executive Director. "This year, our Cherub Choir will consist of First, Second, and Third Graders. They will have their own Christmas Musical!"

Karnes went on to talk about the excitement of having a full year in their new home, located on the third floor of the newly renovated Logan Theater and Cultural Arts Center.

This past January, we were able to meet in person (following strict CDC pandemic guidelines) in our new rehearsal and performance space. We are so anxious to return to a normal schedule with choral singing, parties, and parades! With the addition of first graders and their own show at Christmas, it will give the younger ones an opportunity to play leading roles. At the same time, Junior and Senior Choristers can choose to help with directing and choreography, and learn about "behind the scenes" work in theater, serving as Stage Managers, Cue Staff, Costume Assistants, etc. if they would like to learn about those things."

Christmas is the only time the Cherubs will have a separate performance. All three groups will join together for their first performance, slated for Tuesday September 21 at the Olde Dutch Restaurant for the United Way of Hocking County’s annual Cake Auction. They will all enjoy the HCCC Musical next spring - Disney’s "Beauty and the Beast" to be performed at the Logan High School Theater.

Tuition for the entire season is $100 for the first child, $90 for the second child of the same household, and $80 each for additional siblings. This one-time fee includes all uniforms, t-shirts, music, scripts, costumes and supplies for the year. The registration deadline is Friday Aug. 20; tuition is due at the time of registration.

Cherub Rehearsals (Grades 1,2,3) are on Mondays 5:15-6:00pm; Junior Rehearsals (Grades 4,5,6) on Mondays 6:15-7:15; Seniors (Grades 7-12) on Thursdays 5:30-6:30. All rehearsals are held at the HCCC Music Room, located on the third floor of the newly-renovated Logan Theater and Cultural Arts Center in downtown Logan.
